Can I still access this for free if I leave bt and go to another provider?
as far as I know I can, but can’t do so as an app, ie will have to sign in etc on iPad rather than it being the default email.
thank you

That's how I understand it works, webmail only. The paid for premium option allows email app use.0

You may want to consider opening a new email account with someone like Gmail or Outlook and gradually moving away from BT in order to maintain access via an app.
You can slowly change addresses with various people and companies that you use at a pace to suit yourself.3 -
I would suggest if you haven't done so already also setting up a free email such as gmail (plenty of others to choose from too, I use zohomail) and migrating across to that over time as a fallback in case bt decide to charge or withdraw the option altogether. And could be useful if one provider has an extended outage.1

I have not had a BT account for several years, but I can still access BT mail. Not that I bother. It's amazing how many companies have your address and email rubbish.0
