Supply Gas fire and installation

Hi I've recently had a gas fire supplied and installed earlier this week and don't think the coal bed has been installed correctly there a gap at the front and its sloping and also parts the coal bed has changed colour.
The coals are turning a different colour which surely can't be right after a weeks use.
Had the guy who runs the shop back to look at it today who said it's correct
Haven't paid for it yet where do I stand?
Thank

It is hard to see which parts you are saying has changed colour so even harder to say whether the colour change is to be expected.
I assume you did not take photos of the day installed to show where the change is. (I think most people would not.)
Did you, or can you, see a display model in a showroom that will have been operated anywhere? It may not be that easy as I assume most display models are not connected up to live gas.0 -
It looks like sooting and means incomplete combustion
On a gas fire that can happen if the fake coals aren't in the correct position.
