Compensation for Pylons and information withheld

I have been offered an amount by a surveying company that works for the electricity supplier who owns a large pylon and several smaller ones on my land. Do they have to tell me what they have valued my property at and also what percentage of de-valuation used to arrive at their figure? Should I have my property independently valued or go to an agent? Thanks everyone, I'm confused by all of this.

Were these structures on your land when you purchased it or have they been build subsequently? If the former you land was devalued prior to purchase and the price you paid must have reflected that devaluation.1

I doubt the transmission company have to share any of their working with you. Have you asked?1

If you are planning to make a claim from the electricity supplier you should get independant advice/valuations of your own.

It was 40 years ago when we moved in, I don't think anyone thought about the pylons then. I did ask over a week ago and no one has come back to me, so I am thinking they probably don't have to tell me. I somehow think that I know the answer to my own question and will get in touch with an agent, I am floundering a little with the complexities of it all. Thanks everyone.0
