The panny plasmas are excellent quality and I would buy one with no hesitation. other than I want a 1080p screen and the px70 is only capable of 720p and 1080i.

You can get the wall mounted version from Empire direct for £629 get it delivered to the store and go pick it up saveing the £30 delivery.

Don't forget the Currys at Bolton Gate retail park will beat empire direct prices by matching the prie and then giveing an aditional 5% of for difference discount as well, Empire tend to be the cheapest in the area and sound and vision in farnworth will also price match or beat anyone as well. I have played empire and s&V off against each other lots of times and saved a fortune.

Thought you might be interested in the Which report comment it is one of their Best Buys.

The TH-42PX700 is the replacement model for last year's PX600 Best Buy. Not surprisingly Panasonic carry on their outstanding run of success with yet another great example of an excellent flat-panel IDTV. The technology just happens to be plasma rather than LCD.
It's an HD-ready, 42-inch plasma screen, festooned with features including a memory card slot and light sensor. On the downside, power use when watching TV is alarmingly high.

oh just a thought its the panel only. Does this mean I need a stand and then a unit to house it?

I just ordered this TV £799 including the pedestal/tabletop stand and 5yr warranty with Panasonic. The stand separately is £99 and the 5yr around £249. Got it from Tower Radio locally in Essex but they are part of the Euronics group and had no trouble price matching. I think you will need some kind of stand or wall mounting bracket for it.

Hey Jay Jay, Ive been round the local shops today and you need to check them out the prices are varying from store to store £200-£300 on some TV's Sound and vision in Farnworth had some great prices, even lower than their website. and totaly wipeing the floor with Empire. Even TV and Video direct in the town center had some good deals.

ohh and I made a mistake Currys will match and knock 10% of the difference off any local bricks and morter store in the area.

If you listen to one post between now and the New Year, listen to this...........avoid Empire Direct like the plague.

    Buy it from anywhere else!

I purchased one of these from John Lewis just before Christmas and so far I am well pleased with it.Cost £799 including pedestal stand, delivery and 5 year warranty.Go through Quidco to get a bit more off.I have seen them for £699 but then you have to add around £90 for the pedestal and some more for the 5 year warranty.Of course you will still need stand or cabinet to rest it on,some stores are doing half price glass stands at the moment which I think are around £50.

chuckles1066, please explain why? I have bought from ED in the past with no problems, even when a fridge arrived damaged the replacement arrived the following day. in my experience their service is excellent.

The reason I point out the price from empire is that in Bolton they have 2 stores, which makes them a bricks and mortar company which is what everyone looks for when it comes to price matching. John Lewis for one, stores in the Bolton area will beat any local prices by matching and then giving 10% of the difference off on top.

I have spoken to jay jay in the past and the name itself give the location away I know loads of people that have called their kid's Jay jay after a player that played for the local football team a few years back. sorry for giving your location away jay jay.
