I have a diagnosis of High functioning aspergers But am also blind (they no lomgrt diagnose aspergers, it all comes under the ASD umbrella.
I have been claiming DLA, and then PIP, since 1993. I wasn't diagnose with aspergers till 2009.
I have never mentioned the aspergers because to me, it is more like a quirk of personality, rather than a debilitating condition.
I'm glad I know because it explains why I am a little odd.
Like the OP, I am perfectly happy to be a bit different

I've just received an occupational health report, outlining all of my medical issues. It goes into a lot of detail about how my conditions impact me (including neuro). This came about as I requested an adjustment from my employer to wfh and they needed this formal assessment from independent OH.
My follow up query is, would a formal occupational health report count (or be considered) as supporting evidence in a PIP claim? I feel like I'm in a position to make a claim now, so this would be useful info. I will have doctor/consultant evidence in addition to occupational health. As an aside, the OH professional has recommended that I pursue a formal diagnosis for the autism, and he said I could use his report as leverage (but there's an 18 month NHS waiting list apparently).0 -
It could help your claim.... crucial though with any evidence you supply is that you evaluate if it is consistent with claim and doesn't harm your case for the descriptors you feel apply to you. Ideally the evidence is supportive of claimed problems and even better if correlating with the descriptors.Altior said:I've just received an occupational health report, outlining all of my medical issues.
