Home insurance renewal mid claim

I understand if an insurer is handling a subsidence claim and a renewal is due if they are part of the ABI they will renew albeit at a higher premium
Does anyone know if insurers not signed up to ABI industry agreements generally renew too or do they cast adrift! Thanks

The FOS will rule that they are not allowed to drop you in the middle of a claim. Whether they are ABI members or not.

After the claim is finished, there have been a couple of FOS cases that ruled, that even if not an ABI member, the Insurance company is still expected to follow the Insurance Industry Good Practice guidelines, which is to provide Continuation of Cover.

There have been other FOS cases that have ruled, that really, the only time a homeowner could be dropped by the Insurance Company, is if the Insurance Company has pulled out of the Insurance Market completely and do not do any Home Insurance policies any more at all. For example, a foreign one completely leaving the British Market.

You may have to point all this out... and put up a fight, like I had to.

(Just going to send you a private mail.)
