Hi, I'm Flying to Dublin early next week and need to get to Heuston Station to catch a train to Athlone.

I would like some tips about the best way to get from the Airport to the Train Station.
My arrival time is 11.15am and my train time 12.45 pm so I have a fair amount of time for the journey.

I have been looking at the Dublin Express and wondered if there were any good alternatives or some useful tips to help me.
I'm flying into Terminal 2 at Dublin Airport.

thanks
sx

The Dublin Express coach drops you directly outside the station, journey time is 45-60 minutes usually, but traffic dependant at the tunnel

Only other choice really is taxi but expect prices to reflect that!

According to Rome2Rio the #782 bus takes 34 minutes for the journey, leaving the airport at 11:25/11:40 or 11:55 and arriving at 11:59/12:14/12:29.

    Have you done this journey?
Is there a big demand for the seats?

I have, never had any major issues, and always been able to get a double set of seats to myself.

Not guaranteed, of course, but I've never found it mega busy

    Thank you for help.
I fly into Terminal 2 and was thinking that I might book my ticket from T1 as that is the start of the route and would have a better chance of getting a seat asap especially if I have to go on standby...

Do you know if there is an app or should I book my seat before I leave home and print it out?

    thanks

Apparently there's a bus every 10min journey time of 34min as per google search
  • Yes I saw that too on the time table.  After reading a few reviews on trustpilot I contacted  Dublin Express via Facebook messenger asking about the 10min intervals and the reply was 'we offer a regular service' and did not confirm the frequency.
I guess it could have been a generic reply.

    Hopefully it will be fine.

The published timetable gives the actual times (which had already been posted further up this page anyway), so surely there's no need to interpret woolly statements about frequency (which does vary according to time of day) or to quiz the company?

I have always found that to be true in Ireland, one of the refreshing things is how people make time for each other.Just go with the flow and you will get there.
