Vinyl record dividers

Hey gang,
I've seen some vinyl record dividers online, basically strips of wood with an alphabet letter in the end. They're pretty pricey though, about 80 quid!

Effectively I need strips of something, ideally stiff wood, which are about 25-30mm high, 13 inches long/35/40cm and thin - say 2mm.

I'm looking for something precut along the height - but I'm fine to cut down the length.

I looked at moldings, but most seem a bit thicker than I'd need, wall panel kits, bamboo slats on Amazon etc! Alas, I'm scratching my head!

Essentially I'm sure I can repurpose something indented for something else!

Ideas much appreciated, at the moment I have corrugated card packing between my collection, which looks a bit naff!

    Hi

Why don't you pop down to your local flooring store and get some samples of Amtico-type LVT

If you're lucky you'll be able to get a whole plank that I think will sort you out.

    Regards

    Tet

PS - I use my Amtico samples for everything, packers, cutting backer, tile spacers

Thanks, that's not a bad idea but I think it may be a bit too thick? Also, without a band saw or table saw in not convinced I could make a decent job of taking horizontal slices from it!

For some reason I have slats from a wooden blind in my head but they would have holes from the string attaching them - and probably be expensive!

I was going to suggest cork placemats. We have ones which look about the right size and are apparently (we have an unopened pack in the drawer) Avskild from IKEA. The ones we have are thin enough to cut with a Stanley knife or good scissors.

Unfortunately, I can't see them online (only the coasters from the same range), so it is possible they've been discontinued or they might be a store-only thing.

An alternative might be cork floor tiles, if you can find them in the right dimensions.

edit: Amazon has these - they're self-adhesive and 1mm thick, but if you stuck them together you would get more stiffness.

Alternatively, Amazon also has what appear to be wood dividers, for less than £25: https://amzn.eu/d/3nbfld1 or https://amzn.eu/d/8K6VDVe for a little under £30.

Etsy also has lots of options for much less than £80 - for example this set of 26 is £29.20 https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/1531257596/record-dividers-vinyl-storage?click_key=a0f0188820c35577a5edafa1b91fbae0ba6ce115:1531257596&click_sum=dac6f7e8&ref=search2_top_narrowing_intent_modules_etsys_pick-1&pro=1&variation0=3748260038

And if you're happy to have letter ranges (for example A-D) and need fewer, then £14.95 will sort you out. You could also stain/wax them to another colour.

Cheers, cork isn't a material I even considered, interesting! Not sure how strong it'd be, vinyl is very heavy!

Not sure if I saw those when browsing, I guess if I got those I'd need to attach to another bit of wood as the 15cm would easily get lost! Thanks for linking to them :)
