Attempted Robbery By Bank Of Scotland

Those nice people from Bank Of Scotland have sent me some credit card cheques that can used for such things as 'School and University' fees at a very generous 21.95%.

Shame on them, I think this 'loan sharking' disguised as help is just sick

This APR for all cash advances is clearly stated in their T&C:

Summary Box - Bank of Scotland One Card - 22.9%

Summary Box - Little Black Card - 21.95%

Maybe. I always just shred these cheques and letters without any emotions...

** There really is no need to make your point in such an aggressive manner. This is exactly how threads get into conflict. I can see the point you are making, but i really dont think you need to do it in such a terse way. Let's try and be a little nicer to other moneysavers. Edited by Abuse Controller **

Let's be kind to everyone! The original point was made in a humourous way, but there is a serious side to this. Like many others on this forum I shred any of these credit card cheques that come through my door, but lots of vulnerable people are caught off guard by things like this.

Remember - these credit card cheques are UNSOLICITED sources of credit with high rates of interest and fees. Personally I think there should be a law against pulling tricks like this - I know that the credit card companies are under scrutiny by parliament about this. Hopefully something will eventually get done, but don't hold your breath.

I also dislike these cos of the security implications - I know I should shred everything but I get so much junk I sometimes put product offers straight in the bin, hopefully I have never done it with the checks but there is always a risk
    I think....
