    If they're talking about a laptop then it means it has 1GB of RAM. Check that the graphics card doesn't eat into that (it'll be described as an integrated or on-board graphics card)

    I imagine what they mean is that the entire 1GB of memory is available for use by the OS............a lot of cheaper machines (both desktop and laptop) have graphics cards that leech system ram..........so a 1GB system with a 256mb graphics card might actually only have 768mb of ram available to the system.

    1GB these days is still on the low side.....
