Credit card fraud refunds
MBNA Credit card.
On 15th January my credit card statement was produced. On the same day two transactions appeared on that statement that I had not authorised.
One being a charge and the other being a non-sterling transaction fee for said charge.
I immediately contacted MBNA and spoke with their fraud team who immediately ‘refunded’ both. Stating they would contact the company who’d processed these transactions.
This statement date for payment was the 9th February (25 Days later) This should have been ample time for MBNA to ensure that a revised statement be produced indicating charges that I’d actually incurred and owed to them.
But no. Apparently it’s the policy that ‘refunds’ regardless of why they are being issued or where they come from are not classed as payments and are therefore only added to the following months statement.
Meaning that as an
individual who clears her credit card each month I find I’m being
charged the full amount including the fraudulent costs.(And before anyone asks, it appears as a pending transaction for tomorrow at my bank)
To add insult to injury the company themselves refunded said charges within a week, which MBNA immediately countered that by charging the account as they’d already issued a refund.

You'll only received one statement every month. The systems aren't bespoke to the extent that can ad-hoc requests can be accomodated. Simply request that any interest incurred be refunded.manicmaggi said:This statement date for payment was the 9th February (25 Days later) This should have been ample time for MBNA to ensure that a revised statement be produced indicating charges that I’d actually incurred and owed to them.

That's not an insult.
They were never going to let you get away with a double refund.2 -
I didn't expect a double refund.............it just showed that the charges should never have been there in the first place..... I just wonder how much your willing to pay on top of you actually owe and have it credited to use in the future.

I would pay the full amount and if I needed the funds back, have them returned the next month.manicmaggi said:I just wonder how much your willing to pay on top of you actually owe and have it credited to use in the future.
But more likely, just spend the credit over the coming weeks.0 -
That doesn't answer my point of how much you would be happy to overpay and wait to have it back...50%,80%,150%, 300% and I'm sure this would cause problems for some people already struggling financially.MorningcoffeeIV said:

I answered it. The full amount, if I'm otherwise going to pay interest on it.manicmaggi said:

That's 100% of the total.
Obviously if you don't have that amount, then you can't, but that's not what you asked.1 -
A revised statement is never produced as it would be pointless.manicmaggi said:MBNA Credit card.

Transactions can not be removed. As refunds are processed. So you are never put of pocket.
Why is it a insult that MBNA redebited you after company refunded?
Your not entitled to make a profit out of this...Life in the slow lane0
