Home Insurance Policy - Endorsement

Hi,
An endorsement has been added to my Home Insurance Policy that requires that my patio door should be fitted with key operated locks at top and bottom in addition to existing manufacturers multi point locking system.
if a house break in occurred via another entry point (not via patio door) and items were stolen or vandalised, would Policy remain valid.
ie would a claim be recognised under such circumstances?

So presumably you are wanting to breach the endorsement and not install the locks?
Would need to see how the policy is constructed but you are probably on ok grounds for a non-theft/unauthorised access type claim (eg flood, fire, escape of water). You will potentially be on thin ice for any theft claim even if access was gained via a different mechanism.0 -
Is your multi point door a patio sliding door, or a pair of opening french doors?
Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Generous? - Possibly but sarcastic more likely.0 -
My door is a sliding door…tilt and slide….and fitting additional top/bottom locks would be difficult/impossible.
if I were to accept that I could not claim for any incident via this door, would all other aspects of the buildings and contents Policy be valid?0 -

Why are you so excited by this insurer? If you cannot meet their requirements why not just look at the next company in the list? Have had patio doors without top/bottom locks without issue with some fairly high limits too.0 -
Why can't you fit locks ?
There seems to be lots for sale on EBay from around £8 each.0 -
