Got my statement saying i needed to pay the minimum amount of £300 immediatley as i think i was late, three days later i got a letter saying i have to pay £200 in arrears and something about my credit or something being cancelled and that i had been reported to some place.

Can anyone explaing this to me?

How about phoning up your credit card company and asking them to explain ?

I'm afraid that they are the best people to ask to sort this out.

but can anyone just explain to me what credit card arrears are?
  • rchddap1 and nesima are correct, the longer you leave it the worse it will get.

Simple...an arrear is a debt for which you should have paid £x and simply haven't. That is, you are behind in your payments.

Give them a call and ask them. I should take them less than 10 seconds to explain it to you.

My guess is that you have to may this month's £300 but also have to pay them £200 for payments you have missed from earlier months i.e. you need to pay £500.

They will have reported your late payment(s) to the credit reference agencies which means that any other lender who you apply to will see you have missed some payments. This may affect your future ability to get credit.

As everyone else has said ... phone them because they can tell you what they mean whereas we can only guess. Don't run away from it. Find out where you stand and do it now.
