Parking Charge at Leeds Bradford Airport - Lost Appeal

Options
I pulled up at the sign before the short stay car park barrier to read it when dropping off luggage for twilight checkin because I wasn't sure where to park for free parking. The sign was huge with tons of writing on it so it took my a good minute to read it properly. I then drove into the car park, dropped off my luggage, paid for my parking and went home.

I got a ticket a few weeks later for stopping in an area that doesnt allow stopping. This is insane and seems like a money making trap. I appealed the ticket and they dismissed my appeal. So I appealed again via the independent appeals service and they too dismissed my appeal. I dont think its right that I have to pay £100 for this given the circumstances. How was I supposed to read the sign properly without stopping for a minute to read it. I would understand if I had tried to drop someone off in a no drop off zone to avoid paying for parking, but I actually drove in and paid for parking.

How do I handle this from here? Im prepared to go to court over it but I want to give myself the best chance of winning.

    Which PPC?
Did you reveal the driver's identity in your appeals? I hope not. Byelaws apply at airports, therefore the keeper cannot be held liable.
There is no independent appeals system where unregulated private parking companies are involved.

Plan A is always a complaint from the keeper to the landowner and the keeper's MP, and it is never too late to do so.

Other than that, you are in ignore mode unless you get a letter of/before claim or a court claim. If that happens, come back to this thread after reading the sticky Announcements.

  • Please tell us exactly what you wrote in both appeals and also whether you are the registered keeper of the car or the hirer under a lease agreement. Please also show us the PCN ( front and back, redacting your name, address, vehicle number and PCN reference but leaving all dates visible).

It’s usually better to come here before drafting an appeal rather than after you’ve already submitted a damaging one. For example it is much easier to defeat an airport PCN if you appeal as keeper or hirer without revealing who was driving because airport PCNs are enforceable (if at all) only against drivers but not against keepers and hirers.

But even if you did shoot yourself in the foot by outing yourself as the driver, you should still be able to defeat this charge if you play your cards right from here on.

I'm more concerned that the OP tried IAS thinking it was independent & competent, which is not words that MPs have used.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
