Money supermarket comparison - RAC - quote £ increase for no reason.

Tonight I was using money supermarket comparison to obtain car insurance quotes.
As Martin suggested get quotes 23 ish days before renewal, which I did a few weeks ago.
Quote was £330. Tonight I retrieved the quote( £330 ) and proceeded with the RAC on their site.
Whilst checking the insurance / car details again at the end of the process, the price increased from £330 to £362 without me changing anything.
We phoned the RAC and queried this but the call handler could not find the original £330 quote.
So we had to pay the increased premium of £362.
I think it may be due to the time delay of checking the details (may be wrong) but we have had this in years gone by when looking at holidays,if you delay too long the price changes.
I would like to know why this has happened (profits ?)

Maybe the quote expired? You say it was a few weeks ago.
Maybe the mapping wasn't exactly the same. Often when you are taken to the insurers site from the comparison site there are additional questions or different responses which can lead to an increase or decrease in the price. One of our cars was due last month and the price went down after moved from the comparison site to the provider.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
