Divorce without employing a solicitor

VyEu said:Yes you can ask a solicitor to draft the consent order sure but they'll only act for one party. No solicitor will act for both.
If the other party chooses not to get their own solicitor, sure, that's on them.
And no it's not just a question of it being 'in legal speak'. It needs to be a watertight consent order with all the necessary provisions AND the court needs to think it's fair in all the circumstances. You need both a D81 and a consent order.0 -
If they are 'companies' they are not solicitors. They'll do whatever and take your money. Solicitors can only act for one party, and we'll be sure to tell you what you're signing up to, these 'companies' won't. But if you want to sign something in ignorance or are so keen to pull the will over your partner's eyes, then that's on you. These companies won't submit it to the court in either behalf will they?
Maybe it's just me and I'd prefer to have a regulated professional who knows what they're doing to draft and submit a consent order and d81 to the court.
