Umkomaas and coupon-mad thank you for your responses. As both charges are from private companies we will continue to ignore the threatening letters.

It may be implemented by the Scottish government next year, 2925, but that is probably the earliest it will happen, who knows ? Nobody actually knows, so best guesses would be 2025 or 2026 maybe, governments are likely to have changed before then, but assume that it will happen before 2030

So anything current or historic uses the old advice, but people North of the border need to keep their eyes on it, so that the implementation date doesn't pass by unnoticed
  • Yes this comes into effect in Scotland on 31/03/2026

Anyone who has had a ticket within the past 6years by this date will be effected by this as they can then go after the keeper from this date

That's not true. The limitation period in Scotland is 5 years and more importantly, the law won't be retrospective!

Where did you find out that date from?
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I can't find any info to verify that date given by doofus22 is correct.

Transport Scotland was recently asked about it see their response on 28 July 2025.
