PAYPAL Dispute
JFUZZ
I tried to order some goods via an online retailer. I completed the retailers order form and clicked on payment method. I entered my credit card and was then re-directed to my banking app to authorise the payment. However on the banking app it was a different amount to a different retailer.
I declined the authorisation and was then immediately re-directed to my paypal app where the same payment appeared. I tried to come out of paypal but it then said the payment had been made by paypal and I got an email confirmation from paypal. I immediately tried to dispute the payment with paypal but they said because it wasnt "unauthorised" I wasnt covered by buyer protection and closed the case. They provided the new retailers email address to contact to cancel the order (for something I didnt order in the first place! and surprise surprise no reply. Somehow I've been scammed and wont be using paypal again!
There seems to be no way to contact paypal now to discuss it further. Any advice/thoughts???

I would recommend contacting your back and confirming with them the payment wasn't authorised - see what they say?I'm not an early bird or a night owl; I’m some form of permanently exhausted pigeon.0

I found the initial post quite difficult to follow but got the impression that there hadn't been any unauthorised transaction on the bank account, but just on the PayPal one?ArbitraryRandom said:I would recommend contacting your back and confirming with them the payment wasn't authorised - see what they say?0 -
Do you not have 2 factor set up on PayPal?
If not, time to set it up.
Was this a oversea's retailer?
Or who are they?Life in the slow lane0 -
If that's the case (agreed entirely possible from the OP) then PayPal will presumably attempt to take the money from the account or demand a payment is made? At which point the OP can dispute it... but either way it will be to their advantage to have confirmation from the bank that authorisation was sought for the transaction and was declined.eskbanker said:

Again that's assuming there's not a credit balance kept on the account or I don't think it would have redirected to the bank for the payment initially.I'm not an early bird or a night owl; I’m some form of permanently exhausted pigeon.0
