I can't see any downside to applying for a Chase account and debit card, as long as you have a suitable mobile phone for the app. You can make this payment without FX fees, you'll get cashback on every transaction you make with the card as long as you meet the necessary criteria, and if you travel outside the UK you can use it for purchases and cash withdrawals fee free. You can also then apply for the savings account that pays a reasonable (but not world beating) 4.15% interest.

In the end I didn't use Wise as they wanted too much personal information for my liking, including a photo of ID and a selfie. Too much just for a one-off transfer of a 3 figure sum. I paid by debit card from my current account and it cost me only £10 more than Wise, which was fine.
