Road tax query on private car purchase

Hi I plan to buy privately a second hand car that shows online that it is taxed until August 2024. Does this tax stay with the vehicle or if not what are the procedures when collecting the vehicle (hopefully this weekend)? Many thanks

If you can, the most mony-saving way is buy it on the last day of the month and tax it on the 1st day of the next month.
If you buy part-way through the month then both the seller and you are paying a full month's tax.
