Reusing Magna clean

Hi All, I am changing my old boiler that came with house from gravity fed boiler + magna clean to a combi boiler. Is it ok to keep the existing Magnaclean and reuse for the combi boiler? Also I see that it is fitted above my boiler but I have seen some photos where it sits under the boiler or on the side - any tips so if I can reuse then I can ask the plumber to correct the fitting? Thanks!

I see no reason not to reuse your magnaclean - There is nothing inside to wear out, although the seals may degrade over time. And as long as it is fitted in the return pipe, it doesn't matter if it is above, below, or to the side.Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.2 -
You can get kits of washers, if you suspect they are damaged or perished.
Always a nice idea to smear them in silicone grease too, to lube and protect them further, and make the unit easier to open.
Your old boiler was gravity, so likely the F and R pipes exited the top of the boiler. Your new one will be pumped, and the pipes most likely exit from underneath, so that'll likely be the easiest place to fit the filter (on the return).
Bear in mind, tho', that new installs must have a filter fitted, so your quotes will almost certainly include for one. You can likely sell your old one for ~£50 on eBay or Fb.
Also, your old gravity system will very likely have built up a fair amount of sludge over the years, poison to a fine-channelled combi, so I'd personally factor in a thorough power-flush, and not just have a passive 'chemical' clean.
Are you changing any rads? If so, consider over-sizing them. TRVs? What controls?
