Leaving TV on standby

We are constantly being implored to not leave appliances on standby , for example TVs, to save energy. If you have an LG OLED tv this is apparently bad advice as the TV has to do pixel cleaning every so often . This is an automatic process and if this process is interrupted by switching off it can in some circumstances shorten the life of your panel. The cost of leaving your TV on standby is negligable in the grand scheme of things. I always leave my TV on standby and this advice applies also to broadband routers.

Modern TV's are very negligible in terms of standby use
Worst offenders though are set top boxes with a hard drive in. And games consoles can be bad if the aren't on the eco setting.0 -

Most of this advice is well out of date, as the electricity consumption for most modern appliances on standby is negligible.

Apparently if you keep switching them on and off, the broadband supplier/computer thinks you may have an unstable supply which keeps dropping out. In which case they may turn your speed down to try and resolve the 'problem' .

We have numerous devices which are left on standby. I'd much rather pay a small amount extra for the electricity than faff around every night switching everything off.
