Warranty/guarantee for roofing work

I don't know where to post this query so if in wrong place, please move.
I have just had a new roof on my house. I was told I am getting a 15 year guarantee.
What I want to know is, if the roofer goes bust or stops trading, what happens about the guarantee?
Thanks for reading.

You need to look at the paperwork for the guarantee... some are backed by an insurer so what happens to the roofer is irrelevant. Many aren't and so if the roofer goes out of business your guarantee is gone. Potentially if you paid the roofer with credit then you may have a S75 claim if they go out of business and you need to claim on the guarantee.Oddjob said:I don't know where to post this query so if in wrong place, please move.I have just had a new roof on my house. Whilst your reading the paperwork also check if its transferable if there is any chance of you moving home in the 15 years.1 -
We had roofing work done but it was a real battle to get documentation for the warranty. The roofer was a good worker but seemed to have real trouble with any form of paperwork. We only got the Building Regs certificate after getting the department at the council involved (building regs visits were done), and the warranty paperwork after he was chased - several times - by the trade association he is a member of. Our warranty is insurance backed.
