Hi
Will be flying into Faro for a few nights at the end of this month and looking to stay at a nice area but not sure where.
A lot of people say Albufeira but I wanna avoid large crowds with bars and night life.
Considering Vilamoura as its not too far from Faro to drive but ideally would like to stay somewhere with nice views and the sea front.
Will be travelling with kids so will avoid long walks/hiking.
Will be hiring a car also.
Thanks

My favourite place in the area is Carvoeiro.

Tavira is lovely2

End of this month could be mixed weather, so a car is useful.
Vilmoura is nice, but expensive. Tavira and other towns east of the airport are quieter (Altura, Monte Gordo). Faro city itself is also worth staying in, but no beach, its on a tidal estuary.

Thanks all. Decided to stay at Quarteira in the end.
Any recommendations for Car Hire? Thinking of using local one rather than one major ones0 -
Avoid Goldcar like the plague1

We had a good experience with Sixt in Crete but after a dreadful experience with Europcar in France, we tend to stick to the big boys - Hertz and Avis.
However, we are regular visitors to Tenerife and if we want to hire a car Reception help us book for a few days here and there. If you are only going for a short time could you arrange a taxi from the airport and ask your resort to help you with a local car hire company for a day or so's hire?1
