Facebook 'You are a winner' scams 🤬

I know this has been covered before - but I'm just so cross! Partly with myself for nearly falling for it, partly with the scrotes who raised my expectations and nearly caught me off guard!
I don't enter many FB competitions, partly because I don't want to inflict my hobby on my FB chums, partly because I've heard so many stories like this. But my son needs a new bed, or mattress at least, so I did enter the Hypnos 120 anniversary competition. "Imagine my delight" to get a very cheery, personalised reply on Facebook, so pleased to inform me I'd won - just click on the link ⛳️ and follow the instructions to claim my prize. But "be quick, you only have one hour to respond or we will pick another winner". ⛳️. I clicked 🥴 and arrived at a website which was EXACTLY the same as the genuine Hypnos site, except for the address, ⛳️ and a kind of transparent overlay, which contained the instructions to claim. A bizarre explanation of why my credit card was required ⛳️ " but don't worry, just select 'free trial' and nothing will be charged ⛳️
Of course I didn't proceed any further, but it was so much more sophisticated than other Facebook scams, I thought I'd flag it up. Again. (And I REALLY wanted to win that bed 😢)

Glad you spotted it was a scam and didn't go any further with it0

Sorry, but it is a regular thing on FB if you have to post/like etc on a publicly visible post and there is no excuse for a company running a competition not knowing that.1

I don't know how they do it. I've been waiting to book my MOT at Herfords and low and behold there was an email today saying "here's your invoice" but I haven't booked anything yet. Obviously they are looking either at me or at the company to find out who might be an easy touch. Buzzards!!!

I'm waiting in for royal mail and received 2 iMessage claiming to be from Royal Mail asking me to update my address. One coming from an American phone number the other from an email address. Both reported as junk0 -
Don't feel bad about not spotting it immediately. They keep changing tactics, to make it look genuine. And you did suss it in time, so that means you done good 😁
Worst thing is that if you report them to FB, they rule in the scammers favour 🤬🤬🤬

I am who I'm meant to be
I'm not scared to be seen
I make no apology
THIS IS ME!

Thank you for sharing this. These scammers are getting more sophisticated so you never know. But it is good you immediately noticed it was a scam.1

There are loads of competitions where you enter and are told under your entry that you have won. Some of the pages running comps, now state this comp ends on such and such a date. Or they will post someone is pretending to be our page, please ignore the winner will be announced on such a date @MisslayedI am a Senior Ambassador on the Competitions Time Board and the Old Style MoneySaving Board.
