Hey Guys
I received a new Xbox 360 arcade for Christmas:snow_laug
I am totally new to the console and could do with some advice
I am lacking a harddrive because it is the arcade unit and the memory on the unit is low.
As such it is difficult to progress through the game I've got (Halo 3)
I relise I will need some memory - can anybody recommend what I should get? Finances are a bit tight after all the spending for Chirstmas.
Any alternatives to official Xbox accessories are acceptable or any items in sale would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your help:money:

you only have OE M$ options oin hard drives up to the 120gb unit
im always wary of cheap memory cards as ive had issues with them on nearly every console ive had0 -
get a hard drive the best solution if you want the xbox to last a few years, otherwis if you want somethin cheap, go for this its half price jan sale

is it possible to use a standard memory stick that you would save word documents on a pc?
sorry if thats a stupid question but as I said Im totally new to this0 -
if you dont buy a hard drive the alternative is to get a memory unit to plug in one of the slots at the front. they cost around 20 odd quid i think. you only get around half a gb though. a 20gb hard drive is about 60 to 70 quid and i think the massive 120gb hard drive is over 100 quid.0

I really only plan to play one game at a time - e.g Halo 3 then once Ive finished it Ill move onto Assasins Creed
If I delete the game info once I've finished the game I was playing a memory card should be fine shouldnt it?0 -
Just buy the hard drive, there is a lot more you can do with the storeage space than just store saved games.0

well if you plan to only play one game until you finish it and then after that delete everything you have gained then yeah a memory unit will do. if you plan to play on xbox live then it wont do because you may want to try the odd game demo which can take up more than 1gb sometimes.0 -

Apart from playing demos will the memory card be ok if i want to play games with xbox live?0 -
i am not totally sure to be honest. the reason for that is i cant help thinking that i have read somewhere that a hard drive is needed. although if you dont plan to download i dont see why it shouldnt be ok if you only have a memory unit.
i think a half gb memory unit should be ok for saving games afterall because when i thought about it most games usually only require a few meg for a save. so you can get quite a few in 512meg.
dont forget if you do use xbox live make sure you get your free 1 month trial. you need to have a hotmail or msn email address already. when you get to the page that asks which membership you want select the free silver membership. after that it will tell you that you qualify for the free 1 month gold membership trial.0 -
you get the free 1 month trial on any new live sign up as long as you select silver0
