Credit card eligibility calculator

Sorry if this has been asked elsewhere.

The credit card eligibility calculator on MSE isn't working for me. I get an error of
"Sorry, we can’t get your results right now
We're working on it, please try again later"

It's been doing this for months. Anyone else have this problem? Any other ideas?

Not sure the problem - but you're better off looking at eligibility checkers directly on lenders websites rather than comparison sites. That's where I'd be starting. The card providers themselves will give a better/more accurate indication of results than the one-size fits all multi card comparison sites.
  • Have you tried using different browsers, devices?

I think this collates the results from multiple providers (while only doing a soft credit search). Some of the providers don't even have eligibility checkers on their website as far as I can see. I've used the MSE eligibility checker before many times to good effect, but it hasn't been working recently.

Not tried a different device, but I have tried changing browser.
Does the eligibility checker work for you?

    Thanks.

The comparison sites use data in different ways to the card providers directly. The card providers are more likely to give an accurate indication of success as they are measuring your data against their own internal scoring mechanism.

The comparison sites generally look at a pool of people in a similar situation to you and try and best guess eligibility (in general). Most of the cards on the MSE site do have their own eligibility checks though - what card were you looking for ?
  • I'd like to see what the best 0% purchase options are across all the providers.

I appreciate your offering alternatives such as going directly to providers, and I will indeed do this where needed. However the MSE eligibility calculator is there for a reason, and if it isn't working at the moment, I think that should be looked into.

I suggest you contact MSE directly and say you don’t think it’s working give them a heads up.

What Chris is saying is you can’t really trust that checker anyway because it’s not using accurate data direct from the banks/companies themselves it’s just guessing based off other data

Not really offering alternatives - but a more accurate way to check your eligibility. The MSE checker works differently to the lenders directly. When it works it'll give you a fair indication - but as I say the best way is to go direct. As mentioned above - drop them a message directly to explain your problems and see what they say. I don't use the MSE checker myself as I don't think the results are accurate.
