Home insurance extortion

Hello, I have received the renewal from TESCO Bank and I almost died on the spot.
I have been with the same insurer as they are "dealing" with my subsidence claim for the last 5 years.
As any "good" organisation would, they are making the most of this situation. Knowing that no other insurers would come anywhere near my property.
My cover doubles up almost an a yearly basis while beside "monitoring" they are taking their time to fix the problems.
This year they have asked over £750 for a terraced 3 bedroom house. (Attached to 2 subsiding council property) ( I used to pay £150 before making the claim). What can I do to stop this extortion?
Thanks
EB

Not much.
Call them and ask if they can reduce the premium.
Try other insurers but with ongoing subsidence issues I doubt you'll have any joy.0 -
Insurance costs across the board have gone up a lot this last year or two so it is unlikely to be entirely a case of holding you to ransom. And on any measure an ongoing subsidence issue is a major risk so it's obviously going to have an impact.
One thing you can try if you haven't already done so is separate your buildings and contents insurance. You are pretty much locked into Tesco for buildings, but you can shop around for contents and you may find that you can get a better deal by looking elsewhere for that.1 -
Please see this recent discussion, Mr_elburro. My 600 is for a quite small bungalow.

Get them to complete the remedial work to fix or stabilise the subsidence, then you will be in the same position for whole of market quotes.Mr_elburro said:What can I do to stop this extortion?
Have you actually checked that you can't get a more competitive quote elsewhere?0
