Wheel Alignment Problems
Hi
Just wondering if anyone can enlighten me on this.
Basically I seem to have a problem with the above on my car. I invested last month in two Michelin Exacto tyres costing about £80 each  at the same time as having the tyres fitted I had the wheels aligned and everything was fine for a few weeks. Now however the alignment is out again and it needs seeing to otherwise my tyres will wear out in next to no time. I am really annoyed cause it costs £30 each time to have it done. Does anyone know why it keeps going out all the time. I know the hitting kerbs and potholes doesn't help but I am as careful as possible!!!

What you have just said really, hitting curbs! You shouldn't really be hitting them, drive up them very slowly if you must but don't bounce into/off them.
How do you know it needs doing again already? Also, £30 to have your tracking done sounds a bit expensive. If your suspension is worn then you are wasting your time/money, get that sorted first.
What type of car is it and whats the age/mileage?0 -
I drive 60 mile a day and the car won't drive straight along the road it seems to via off. Also if you look at the edge of the tyre you can see they are already starting to wear.
The car is a VW Polo Y reg 2001 - its done 47,000. £30 seems to be the going rate where I live unfortuntely. I usually take it to ATS.0 -
Ask the tyre dealer what they think the problem is, thats causing this.
Quite often it's good to re-check after a few hundred miles, anyway.
Do you have lots speedbumps, that you have to drive over - slow right down, if you do.
You can have a more advanced 'SuperTracker' alignment check, which costs twice what you've paid. It'd be checking the geometry, much more acurate. Not too many tyre dealers have this - but ask ATS, they'll know who has.
& is this a problem thats only AFTER the new tyres - there could be a faulty one, so you really need it investigating.

Thanks for this. I had the camber and cast done which I think is what you refer to. I paid about £50 to have that done. I have just been up to ATS in my lunch hour and they confirm that in the last month the tyres have worn by about 3mm!!!!!!!
They can't seem to explain why either the tracking has been checked again and it wasn't far out. :mad:0 -
Then it's time for a (no dis-respect ATS) proper garage to take a look!!
Even in Milton Keynes, the land of roundabouts, they don't wear THAT fast!!
