Can insurers pursue me for loss years after settlement

I’m not bothered about them. They said they don’t chase anyone for hire costs if they end up losing in court400ixl said:Claims management company muddies the water somewhat.
They are a different party to your insurer. For example if your took a credit hire vehicle and part of the reason they lost in court was for this recovery and you didn't fully support them to their satisfaction then they could come after you for breach of the contract you signed with them.0 -
My fault. I thought this was something that had actually happened.

Internet horror stories aside it's actually very unusual for insurance companies to chase people for third party costs. When it does happen it tends to be because they either lied on their applications, or because the accident resulted from a clear and significant breach of the policy terms and conditions (some policies do have a specific clause about drink driving, for example).AlfaRomeo1 said:

Unless you did one of those things you have nothing to worry about. They can't just pursue you because it was a bit silly of you to drive into the back of someone, or pull out of the junction without looking, or not notice that the light had turned red, or whatever it was that you did to cause the accident. The whole point of liability insurance is to protect you when you do something a bit silly.
£15K might seem like a lot of money, but in the world of insurance claims medium sized at best. Insurers pay out much bigger claims than that with a shrug every day. So worrying and get in with your life.2 -
So were you drink/drug driving at the time?AlfaRomeo1 said:
