I bought shares in a company called Tadpole Technology back in the 90’s the company went through bad times and I forgot about them, well my Mum informed me she found the certificates and shredded them all yesterday! Why she didn’t ask me before I don’t know! But first how do I go about finding out if these shares still exist and if they are worth anything and then I guess about getting new certificates please

Looks like they went into administration in 2007 or so, shares probably worthless.

There might be a capital loss to claim. With the reductions in the CGT annual exemption many more people will be paying CGT, so old losses might be worth something.

Wow. I remember Tadpole. They were one of those "buzz" shares that got far too much hype and consequently the share price bounced around. Some people won but most people lost. Those were the days when Investor's Chronicle used to publish tips and the tipped shares would almost certainly rise then fall back a day or two later. If you got in early enough and were not too greedy you could make a few quid. There was even a subscription you could pay to get the tips earlier!0

Apologies for replying to an old thread but I hoped that other Tadpole Technologies shareholders and the OP may have notifications turned on for this thread.
I also had shares many years ago when I lived with my parents and my mum got a call this week from someone from Inteli Law LLP. She initially thought it was a scam, but the guy rang up again and managed to mention the word Tadpole which rang a bell so she got his number and passed it on to me.
I rang the guy back, and Inteli Law are a mergers and acquisitions specialist and have been instructed to contact all shareholders regarding possible misselling and a number of other issues. The shares for me were a graduation gift from a relative but I imagine it was a boiler room type sale. Inteli Law had my correct name, my parent's phone number, my old email address and the correct number of shares I owned even though I said I probably shredded the share certificate.
I've given them my new contact details to see what happens next but they are due to send me some sort of Reparation offer in the coming days.
Edit:
100% sure this is a scam. The website https://intelilawllp.com/index.html is new and I can't find the firm listed on sec.gov. They have also mentioned "Refundable Recertification Deposit" in the email I've just received so that screams pay the deposit before we give you the refund...
Still can't believe they found out how many shares I had though.. scary.
Stay safe everyone.
