Hi, I drove to Portugal in uk vehicle, apparently some roads have electronic toll which we did not knew so not paid now this week already got 3 letters so far with different minimal amounts of tool charge and extortion on the penalty charges from this company. Is this something enforceable in UK, has anyone that received these in the past and ignored it has had any action from the back of it?

Hi. I have just received a charge certificate from EPCPLC for £162 for driving in the Portugal. the charge is for July 2019. I have been Hiring cars and driving in the Algarve since 1998. Each time i hired a car i pre paid toll fees with either cash at Faro Airport or the car was fitted with a transponder and the toll fees were taken from my credit card after the hire term. If i knew i was going to use the motorway i would always tell the car hire company to include the fees in my final payment. 
The last time i visited, payment was supposed to be made at the Post Office. I tried to pay and was told it had not appeared on the system yet.I explained this to the car hire company and they agreed to deal with the payment 
 If i was only going to use the N125 (coast road) i would make it clear i was not going to use the A22 motorway tolls. As far i can gather the Car hire company has not paid my bill. My bank statements will not show a breakdown of the car hire bill and i no longer have the receipts from the hire period. I do not like  having letters like this hanging over my head and am unsure what to do . Any advice would be appreciated on rejecting the claims for payment and how to stop the letters

Apart from instructing the hire company not to pay any charges, the advice to you is the same as that given to the OP of this thread, and every other poster that comes here with the same query. Ignore it.
