PIP appeal - evidence

Hi

I have diagnoses of ADHD and ASD. I have also received help for PTSD sympoms from the 'complex trauma' team but no diagnosis due to overstretched NHS.

I was far too overwhelmed by the PIP form to fill it in so they did it over the phone then rejected me.

I'm doing what I can to fill in the gaps from the phone interview.

Does anyone know if a private diagnosis would be accepted?

I tried to get help from CAB but got overwhelmed and ran away. 🙄

I've coped all my life but I've got to the stage where I need some help now and don't want to mess it up.

Thanks

PIP is not based on diagnosis.
It is based on the daily tasks listed in the form & your ability to be able or not to regularly do them.

    EG

    Daily living activities and descriptors

    Activity 1. Preparing food.

    a. Can prepare and cook a simple meal unaided. – Score 0

    b. Needs to use an aid or appliance to be able to either prepare or cook a simple meal.   - Score 2

    c. Cannot cook a simple meal using a conventional cooker but is able to do so using a microwave.     - Score 2

    d. Needs reminding or encouraging to be able to either prepare or cook a simple meal. - Score 2

    e. Needs supervision to help me stay safe or physical help to either prepare or cook a simple meal. - Score 4

    f. Cannot prepare and cook food. – Score 8

Where would you fit into the answers & can you give examples to back up your reason for points.

So for example my Wife has M/S & will drop things for no reason.

So dropped into "E" as she needs constant supervision. Reason for safety.

We have a letter from M/S nurse citing the danger to not only her, but also anyone else should she drop either anything sharp of with boiling water/hot food out of the oven.
