I was going to buy a dvd recorder with video plus, but my boyfriend has just asked me why I don't get sky+ as we already subscribe to sky. What I want to know- is it a 1 off payment for sky+. I don't really want to be paying another monthly subscribtion (or more than my basic package).
any advise thank. (sorry I'm not that techie)
Also can he still watch the sky if I am watching the things I have recorded as we have one of those eye things. We normally have to watch the same program (tele downstairs and 1 upstairs)

If you dont get the package with movies or sports you have to pay £10 a month for the use of sky plus on top of your package.
You can record one programme at the same time as watching another. If your recording two programmes at the same time you have to leave it on one of the channels you are recording.
I would go for a dvd recorder its cheaper!
Life's way too short!

you will pay for the box and nothing else... Only if you stop your subscription will you need to pay £10 to use the record function.make_life_easier wrote: »Also can he still watch the sky if I am watching the things I have recorded as we have one of those eye things. No.. this still works the same.. You will still have to watch the same thing upstairs and downstairs.
In my opinion Sky+ is better than a DVD recorder because it can series link.
You can record any program while browsing (just press the R button) and you can rewind and pause live TV as well. That and you dont have to have Disks lying about.. You could always op for a DVD recorder with HDD but I would say SKY+ is still the better option.0 -

If my boyfriend has to watch corrie and eastenders when I decide to watch them he won't be around for much longer:rotfl: :rotfl: so it might be a good idea;) No seriously I am probably better getting a dvd recorder, but thank you for your useful information:beer:became debt free December 060 -
There is no need to subscribe to Premium packages to use Sky+. I am on the Family Mix at £21 per month. There is no £10 charge.
I got my Sky+ from Currys for £29 plus £30 installation. I think this offer is over, but there are regular retailer offers around that are cheaper than buying direct from Sky.
Mine was installed last Saturday and has already revolutionised our TV viewing. It is an outstandingly good product. Once you have it you would never be without it.0 -
TROYS MUM IS WRONG. There is no charge as long as you're subscribed to any package - even the 2 mix.0

Hi
I got sky plus completely free, i just phoned Sky, asked for the cancellations dept and said I wanted to cancel my Sky as I wasnt around at the times to watch my fave shows, and that I had looked at Sky Plus but it was too expensive. She firstly offered me it for half price, then completely free, no installation or any fees at all!
Worth a try?0 -
I think Troys Mum may have been right at the time but the offer has now changed.
We didnt upgrade to sky plus originally as they wanted £10 a month if you didnt subscribe to movies or sports (which we didnt)
This then changed (only a few months ago) so you no longer need to pay the extra if you subscribe to any monthly sky package.
This was in response to Virgins product which I dont think had a charge attached. I think Sky + is brilliant and one of the few really good tech things we got last year. Its not perfect and will occasionly lose a series recording setting if the programme is taken off for a week or two due to snooker but on the whole very very good.0
