Thanks so much for the advice @sourcrates. I got such a shock expecting write off paperwork and then thought I had no redress. I will do the complaint tomorrow and let you know how I get on. Thanks again.

Hi I’m following up with my earlier post this year.

I Complained to Bank over 3 months ago and they agreed they shouldn’t have sold debt to DCA due to my DV circumstances, said they were going to buy back the debt and look at write off and offered £300 compensation. I was also interviewed over the phone twice about the financial abuse ( 2 separate people asking the same questions, the 2nd wasn’t very nice at all)  and then I’ve heard nothing for over 2 months.

I keep chasing as I cannot get my ex off my mortgage when I don’t know what’s happening with the debt. it’s still showing as debt assigned to CAIS on my credit history, and bank confirmed yesterday it’s still with Link Financial and gave me their contact details!!  They won’t give me any info other than we’ll be in touch. No timeframe. No decision as to write off. I can’t just wait indefinitely as I have a date looming when I must get ex off mortgage as per court order and this limbo is going to result in me having to go back to court at great expense/distress otherwise FMH will be sold. And the bank don’t care and just won’t give me a proper response

any advice on what I can do? Or experience of how long to buy back debt? I don’t even know if they do buy back the debt that they will write it off as no decision about that has been communicated to me. I might wait for months and they don’t write it off and I’ve wasted a lot of time and money. A family member even offered to pay it to stop me going back to court and sort it later but I don’t know who to contact about it! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
