Very performed hard check at eligibility stage

Hi there

I am a bit annoyed as I was using Very.co.uk's eligibility checker to purchase white goods but then discover a hard search was carried out and now appears on my credit file. I didn't proceed with the application. There was nowhere that mentioned that a hard search was going to be performed beforehand. I thought it would only be a soft search?

So wanted to know can they do this and how can I get this reversed?

Follow up: I went back into the application and it states "We will now run an eligibility check to see if you are likely to be accepted for our credit account. This check WILL NOT affect your credit file."

From my own experience in the past, I wrote to the business with a copy of the entry on my credit report and told them to contact the bereau and have it removed/corrected.  If they did not do this, I contacted the actual credit reference bereau with all the details and they removed the entry themselves.  A pain in the neck but necessary if you want it sorted.
