CCJs - wiped after 6 years?

Hi

I'm in a lot of debt at the moment with loads of different companies, I have received CCJs for a few of them already, what happens next? What if I ignore the CCJs? Is it true that they get wiped after 6 years?

Why are you asking that ? Why don't you face up to your responsibilities & meet your obligations !

My sticking your head in the sand and hoping that it will all go away you aren't doing any favours for yourself. People here will suggest that you face your debts rather than hide from them.

Why don't you list all of your incomings and outgoings here and perhaps people here can start to help you.

What happens next is that they execute judgement - bailiffs, attachment of earnings, charge on property. You need to take advice from the usual sources.

Hmm, I didn't state I wasn't paying, I'm asking simply because it will take me longer than 6 years to pay it off, so what will happen when the 6 years is up?

Sorry, that was the question we were responding to.

If you continue to make the payments due, then no enforcement action can take place. You continue until the sums are paid off.

If the total is less than £5k you might want to consider an administration order.

I think you are referring either to the law that says debts are wiped out after 6 years of no payment and no contact. This doesn't apply to you in this case.

Or do you mean the 6 years it is on your credit file? Entries are on the credit file for 6 years from the date of first entry but if after 6 years it was marked as settled then that 'settled' entry would be on for 6 more years. IE 12 total for one debt.

I should have worded it better, it was 2 questions it's just that I'd put them one after the other.

Ok, yeah, see what you mean...

What if I ignore the CCJs? They send the bailiffs around in most cases.

Is it true that they get wiped after 6 years? National Debtline say:
'The judgment will still stay on the register for 6 years from the date of the judgment. If in the meantime you have obtained a certificate of satisfaction this will also be shown on file.'
I must admit I'm not clear on this - does it mean that the record will be taken off your credit reference agency file 6 years after judgement, even though the judgement may not have been satisfied? Sounds unlikely.

It does seem that it comes off the record after six years regardless of whether it is satisfied http://www.direct.gov.uk/MoneyTaxAndBenefits/ManagingDebt/CourtClaimsAndBankruptcy/CourtClaimsAndBankruptcyArticles/fs/en?CONTENT_ID=10013083&chk=2DmLcy
