Has anyone had any experience of having a motorised curtain rail installed (using existing curtains). Any tips or recommendations for suppliers would be much appreciated.
It's for a large patio door (364cm wide)

I put these up for my mum a few months back, she is very happy, they integrate with the same system as her electric blinds. She did get new curtains for them (from Next), but there is no reason they cannot work with suitably sized existing curtains. They can span up to 6 meters.

Thanks for that. I used to have a Somfy garage door, and it worked well. I'm also looking for somewhere that will do the fitting, as I'm pretty hopeless at that sort of thing :0(MattMattMattUK said:I put these up for my mum a few months back, she is very happy, they integrate with the same system as her electric blinds. We used a local curtain/blind shop to install an Evaglide motorised curtain track. The length is similar to yours, but also has to go around a curved, bay window, which adds friction. This will not apply to you, but the supplier had to take several goes at getting the curve right (much to the frustration of the shop). All works well now.
My only complaint is that the curtains operate at a set time (or via remote control), so you have to change the closing time periodically through the year. I looked into Internet-connected ones, but they were silly money, and over-complex for what I needed.1 -
As a matter of interest, does anyone have any experience of the retro-fit motorised curtain pullers like this:
