Unable to verify Paypal acount

Options
Hello everyone,

I have used Ebay, for years. Mainly for Ebay shopping, which is where I get most of my things from. I also intend to use it to take payments for online work.

I transferred money to my Paypal account, a large-ish sum, and was able to successfully pay for something on Ebay. I was about to make a second purchase and Paypal have just asked me to verify my account by having a text/call sent to the number associated with my account. This number is years old and I don't have access to that number, anymore. I've never had an issues with Paypal and ended up keeping my number the same. Yes, this is a lesson in always immediately updating my number, and yes in the future I'll always immediately update my number.

However, updating my number requires getting into my account, yet I can't get into my account until I've verified the account by having a code sent to that old number. I now have several hundred pounds (my only money, right now), stuck in that account, which I should be able to access. I've been told I can call a US number to try and get help, when I asked a representative over facebook. Their support email is in use.

What can I do? I have no idea how much that call is going to cost. And that IS my account, I've used it for years and that is my money, and they had zero issue with me having used it for a purchase, just a few days ago.

Thank you
