Cost of Living payment

I'm on Contribution based JSA, meaning I don't qualify for the Cost of Living payments apparently. Yet if I was on income based JSA, or Universal Credit I would qualify! This seems mega unfair to me that the other two types of credit that are exactly the same as mine get an extra £599 over the same period for exactly the same situation as I am in. Is there anything I can do about this?

Both income based JSA (which is no longer available to new claimants) and Univeral Credit are means tested.,
In retrospect, I think that if you qualified you could have chosen to claim Universal Credit rather than contribution based JSA while you looked for employment, and would then have got a COL payment, but it's too late now.2 -
You are comparing a non means-tested benefit with means-tested benefits. They have completely different eligibility criteria, they are not the same type of benefit, so there is no reason to think others getting the CoL payments are on exactly the same situation as you.UKMaverick785 said:I'm on Contribution based JSA, meaning I don't qualify for the Cost of Living payments apparently. Were/are you eligible for Universal Credit? If not, then no the people getting CoL payments are not in exactly the same situation as you.
If yes, then you could have chosen to claim that as well/instead, and been eligible for CoL payments.
But no, nothing you can do about it now1 -
You can get CBJSA while being a millionare. Not suggesting you are, but that's why it's not a qualifying benefit2
