in Cutting tax
When I completed my online filing, the calculation said that I have overpaid my tax (as I did some PAYE work for a few weeks and still finished below my personal allowance by £1k).
Will HMRC send that automatically OR do I need to claim it in due course?
Thank you all.

Mine was in my bank account before I got the official letter from HMRC. Obviously, at some point you had nominated a bank account to receive any repayments should the need occur. I might look at my Gateway portal and see if I ever did the same.
Thank you.0 -
On your SA Tax Return, page TR6 there is a section for "If you have paid too much tax" and boxes 4 to 8 are where you give the bank account details for the refund to be paid to.
Alternatively, you enter "X" in box 9 and will be sent a cheque.1 -

Just for the OP's information - I submitted my tax return on 26th January and the refund is showing to credit my account tomorrow, 5th February. Very quick.
I assume, if the OP is due a refund and did not provide account details, then the HMRC will default to a cheque refund payment.0
