No need to mess around with the balance forecast unless you find it helpful to visualise the potential impact of any changes, that feature is purely there as a suggestion of what Octopus think is the right amount to pay (which may or may not be accurate). I don’t personally pay it much attention as their estimates for me aren’t remotely close to my actual usage.
Their estimate can be wildly out.  They want my granddaughter to pay £205 pm, down from £250 a couple of months ago.  On my advice she is paying £120 and at last week's bill is currently in credit with a payment due tomorrow - their graph still shows £150 debit for January !  My projection is that she will max at a debit of £48 in March against their projection of around £450 debit at that time.

Must admit to have been slightly perplexed by this.  I only joined O in November and entered my yearly usage figures which I assume was used to calculate my DD.   After two months winter usage I noticed using this facility they suggest increasing my monthly payment by £50.
I realise the cap was increased after I joined but that was only 5% or so.  I haven’t changed my DD.
