Can't give British Gas my money !!!

HI ,
This really shouldmt be this difficult !

Moved into new home 10 days ago.

Go on to BG website using the 'Moving Home' link . Enter details on that link at which point it tells me to call them instead. Spend 1 hour on the phone to be told by recoreded voice to register online - if only !!!! Forever on hold , never get through.

Decided to use BG live chat tonight. Joined a queue with 47 people ahead of me. Spent 1 hour in a queue to get to number 5 for it to tell me their were no agents available..

How can I give these clowns some money ? They really doenst deserve it !

Are there any phone numbers that might actually (one day) get me through to a human ?

Thanks

Are BG the deemed supplier at the new place or your former supplier? If the former, you'll have to sign up with them before you can move to a competent supplier. Once you have registered with them I would lose no time in transferring to Octopus. If you find an Octopus referral code then you will get £50 credit when your account opens.

Why have you left it so late to register with them? I hope you took photos of your meter readings when you moved in.

BG are the supplier at the property I have moved into. I cant create an account online because as soon as I enter my address they say I have to call them.

I moved in 10 days ago and I've been trying for the last 8 of those to register . Why is that late ?? And yes , of course I took images of the meters on day 1 .

There's no need to pay them after 10 days of occupation. Melodramatic headlines aren't neccesary. All will be resolved in due course.

However, it is clear that CS at BG is shocking and they are going through a move from an old to new IT and billing system.

This probably doesn't help and the wait times mentioned are not acceptable

I would be frustrated and I suspect so would you with the lack of customer service
  • I don't t know if I've done the right thing , but I've emailed BG asking them for what I owe them for the 10 days and signed up to Octopus last night at £80pcm saving. Who knows if that's legit or not , time will tell.
