ITV plc - missing share certificate. Or is it the Granada Compass plc one?

I have a few certificated shares in ITV plc which I need to get rid of. The share certificate can't be found, but there is a certificate for exactly the same odd number of shares in Granada Compass plc.
I suspect these shares originated from a holding in Forte many years ago, and that the Granada Compass share certificate relates to the ITV shares - possibly still valid as such.
Any clues please?

You're right that one share in Granada became one share in ITV but I cannot see in the prospectus that it says new certificates wouldn't be issued. It's common with name changes for new certificates not to be issued but with mergers they usually are.uffington said:I have a few certificated shares in ITV plc which I need to get rid of. Any clues please? However, you may not have been issued a new certificate as Wikipedia says this, "That the new company was in effect a takeover by Granada of Carlton was admitted in the first annual report of the new company, ITV plc, which treated the company as effectively a continuation of Granada plc (with the Carlton merger regarded as an acquisition) for accounting purposes." So perhaps it was effectively a change of its name.
Anyway, as Eskbanker writes, you need to ask the registrar.1
