Business Rates?

Hi,
Hoping this will be a straightforward question.
I hire a field to do a car boot sale. The field is owned by a charity who hire the field out to various users.
Do I need to pay business rates? I don't sell anything but charge sellers to sell their items.
Many Thanks

Presumably you are just hiring it 1 day a week or such?

No you need to be in rateable occupation to be liable for business rates and one day a week would not constitute rateable occupation. In addition most land without any buildings is not rated anyway so the local council will not be billing the landowner either.

    Thank you - much appreciated
