Negotiating on a new build after developer revised plans

If you're happy with just one parking space then negotiate.
If you need two spaces then walk away and get your deposit back as this is a significant change!
But if bigger plots are selling for £5k less, you should be switching to one of these plots perhaps?!?!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)1 -
Are you planning on staying there forever or moving on in a few years? If your house is the only one on the development with 1 full parking space and others have 2, it might be less desirable to future buyers.
If you can change to another plot, maybe do especially if they're now cheaper and have 2 spaces0 -
Was it two real spaces, or was it two undersized spaces that were really 1.5 to begin with?
Not that it matters I suppose.0 -
I think the change from two parking spaces to one parking space is quite a significant change particularly in this day and age where many people do tend to have two cars
I would change to one of the plots that has two parking spaces0 -
Thanks everyone, yeah I'm certain now that I want to switch plots if possible (or walk away), as you've pointed out, it'll really affect resale value in the future and I'm just getting a bit of a raw deal in general since other plots are going for less. I no longer think just a discount is acceptable, and I suspect they might even be required to have two spaces1

As others have said, I think you'll find it more difficult to sell the house with only one parking space, especially if it's the only house on the development with only one space. Simply making the house less desirable will have a knock on effect to the resale value in my view. I'd definitely swap to one of the plots that has two proper parking spaces.0

If you have 2 cars, you could always put one in the garage and one in front of it.
I hate "in line" parking spaces anyway, often you want to get the rear car out and have to shunt the other around. Is there scope here to make another parking space alongside the existing one, which would be in front of the house. The standard covenants would probably prohibit that but say you will only proceed with the purchase if they remove that or explicitly give you permission to create a second parking space in front of the house. Better still get them to provide it.1
