hi all
just had some double glazing installed...... however have noticed on one of the double glazing windows installed.... there appears to be condensation running along the edge and up the side of the window inside the house..... none of the other windows have any condensation on the inside window....
is this normal or has this window been fitted badly ?
any ideas
thanks

if you have trickle vents at the head of the window, open them and keep them open as much as possible. Is the radiator turned up quite high in this room? Maybe why there is condensation in this room only?

Double glazing doesnt resolve condensation problems but it does help to reduce them. As an example we had double glazed aluminium windows in our current property and condensation was very very bad due to the cold metal and the lack of ventilation in the house. We had pools of water on the cills and ended up using a dehumidifier which helped a lot. This year we replaced all the windows with UPVC with trickle vents and the condenstaion problem has all but gone with the added bonus we no longer need to use the dehumidifier.
It sounds to me like that particular room has the potential for more condensation than others so as already stated fit a trickle vent to the window if it doesnt have one already. If it does have one, you may want to think about fitting a second or bigger vent.0 -
many thanks for all replies.... it does have trickle vents...... and they are open... the rads were not on..... i left the house for one night... and when i came back thats what i discovered.......however i think thinking about it, it maybe something to do with the garden..... the garden is quite high... becuase previous owners piled a load of mud, rocks in the middle then covered it with small pebbles.... i think now the water isn't draining away from the house.... when the weather gets better i need to drop the level and ensure air bricks are not blocked in any way.0
