From the emails I get on a regular basis, I would be a multi-billionaire now!
  • Just received one of these messages this morning posted from Portugal. while we receive these messages on a regular basis, this message shows me that the scammers are getting better. They give many names and make the letter look more realistic. They also give an address and telephone number etc.
I can see some people wasting money on an initial stamp or phone call. I wonder if the call is to a premuim line?

Do what I do, don't put a stamp on the envelope.

I am one of their best customers now, so they must be getting the unstamped letters delivered to them.

Still waiting on the cheque though.
  • My parents have just got one by post for 925500. Does the regulator or consumer groups follow up on these guys?

Yes , and put some cardboard into the envelope so that it might increase the weight into the next postal charging band.
    Forgotten but not gone.
  • Just to let you know that the Intl. Lotto Commission have now moved to Lisbon. I am lucky enough to have won 4.2 million US dollars. All I need to do is contact Dr Victor Gomez on the number given in the letter. I don't think I'll bother claiming though. :D
  • My Nan ( Gawd bless her little cotton pop socks) used to send these scam letters back saying "if I HAVE won X amount you can take your 'cut' and your 'admin' fees out of the prize money and send me the rest".
She never got as many after that.
I can't believe that some people still fall for these things, but when they do I have no sympathy as nothing is free and if someone asks for an upfront fee before parting with any prize money ( which alone should be a giveaway), you should know by now its not genuine.
I work in a Bank ( BooHisssss) but I have to talk to people who have been scammed and have to explain to them that they have no comeback and have lost the money. It's sad really, but in this current climate people want an easy route to riches and there is NO SUCH THING. Even the REAL lottery is wasting a majority of peoples time.

    Got one of these yesterday.
I've only "won" 615,000.00 Euros. Aye right as they say here. Even the photocopy letter looks suss. They've even scanned kin the official National Lottery symbol. Well they won't be getting 61,500 euros from me. Trouble is some poor so and so will be duped. If you don't enter you don't win.:D

I received a letter from these idiots this morning for my Mum who passed away last month. What worries me is that if these people are allowed to carry on sending these letters to the elderly and infirm how many are going to fall for these mean tricksters? We should be protecting our older generation against such fraudsters but I doubt this will happen as this has been going on for years.
I'm taking the advice of others and popping a nice heavy addition to the item and returning it without a stamp. Won't make a big difference but at least they will have to pay something for their trouble.
