Well worth reading the comments after the article where they think it`s not just the displays that are useless.

the whole article mixes up Smart Meters with IHD. even their headline and then first paragraph are talking totally different things.
no idea what the comments say as every time i try to read one the screen re-populates with adverts.2 -
The comments after the article are by people who are very obviously lacking a solid connection with reality and are best ignored.6
