Small print on drain insurance

Hi, we have a displaced drain that runs under our extension so part of the floor may have to come up and we have a quote for this for £4,000. Our drain insurance company are saying that the claim limit is £1,000 which we have not been told about. They have said it was in the terms and conditions which were never sent to us, we have an email that states that we are covered for drain damage within the framework of our house, no limit stated, but no small print or terms and conditions were ever sent, the insurer has been totally hopeless and we have had to get the initial blockage cleared and the work quoted for despite being insured for 24/7 call out, all time and money for us. We would not have taken out the insurance knowing of the limit, can we claim for the full amount?
